Mulhouse and Edgbaston beat Paderborn to claim ECC titles

It was a disappointing day for the host club as both their teams were beaten in the finals as Ahorn portpark, Edgbaston retaining their women’s crown while Mulhouse claimed the men’s for the first time.

Top Seeds safely through opening day

The European Club Champs kicked off in Paderborn with the first day of Pool matches, which saw all the top seeds win comfortably, and some of the men’s teams are already through to the quarter-finals.

In the Women’s pools top seeds Mulhouse, defending champions Edgbaston, hosts Paderborn and Scottish contenders Newlands all won two matches and will contest tomorrow evening’s Pool A and B deciders.

The Men’s event is split into four Pools, and with two 4-0 wins apeice Mulhouse and Colets are already through to tomorrow evening’s quarter-finals. Hamburg also notched up two 4-0 wins and are certain to progress from their four-team group. Top seeds Paderborn are in control of their pool after beating Vaduz 4-0 in the last match of the day.

Semis Settled on Day Two

The top seeds will contest the semi-finals of both the Men’s and Women’s European Club Championships after a second day of play at the Ahern Sports Park in Paderborn saw all the matches go to seeding.

The early men’s matches finalised the four Pool placings while the top four women’s seeds moved through to Pool deciders.

Two contrasting matches saw the top two seeds Paderborn and Mulhouse progress to the final in front of a packed crowd at the Ahorn Sportspark.
