Slovenian Junior Open 2019

Earlier in February the Slovenian Junior Open was held in Ljubljana

The first weekend in February, from the 1st until the 3rd, the best juniors from the region competed in the 6th edition of the Slovenian Junior Open.

Our event is constantly growing and this year we had 82 entries from 6 different countries.

Held in a 4-court facility for the past 5 times, the possibilities of growth were quite limited, but with the opening of Squashland, a brand new 6-court club (by the way, it's allegedly the only wooden squash club in the world) the SJO moved there.

173 matches with 8.973 points were played during the three days and we still had lots of free courts, so we can easily accommodate a lot bigger entry in the future.

As for the results, it's difficult to talk about gold, silver and bronze since all medals were, appropriately, made out of wood. Nevertheless, in a total of 7 categories, which were played, Croatia won the BU15, Turkey BU13 and Hungary BU17. All the other categories were won by local juniors.

Judging by the atmosphere and the overall comments from participating juniors and coaches, there's no fear for squash in our region. Now we eagerly anticipate the ESF Masters Circuit to take part in Squashland in April.
